Bangkok’s Neighborhood Inns (Soi 16)

I’ve had the luxury of staying at some wonderful 5 star hotels in Bangkok, and I promise to show you some more of those, and less expensive ideas at the end of this long post on Medical Tourism “Lite”.   I found myself returning to my home away from home, the Park Plaza, where after a two year absence, the staff still remembered my name.

For those travelers who prefer to nest in hidden boutique hotels in chic residential neighborhoods, the Park Plaza Sukhumvit is a charming, affordable, 4½-Star, 95 Room, boutique hotel located in Soi 16 – Asok stop on the BTS/Sky Train.   Because it’s a rather new hotel with a discreet entrance, it’s best to mention to your taxi driver that it’s across from the Exchange Tower, in Asok, Soi 16.  It is also few a short blocks from the hustle of Sukhumvit Street; a long busy street, packed with hundreds of street vendors, tailors, massage shops, girlie shows, restaurants, mega hotels and Mega Malls.

A long list of amenities at the Park Plaza include: 24 hour room service, a rooftop pool, a gym, a personal safe, Plasma TV, a DVD Player, and FREE WiFi.  An ergonomic desk chair, recording my own outgoing voice mail announcement, and the evening ice man who rang the door bell, was a nice touch too.

In addition to a refrigerator, the decor includes the bonus of a girl’s best friends:

a. great bathroom lighting & b. a full length mirror.

Superior service is the norm.

No long wait for someone to answer …

Breakfast at the Park Plaza starts with local honey, “Bee”.

The rest is up to your imagination, including vegan and Asian traditional.

There is a casual meeting area on the 2nd floor,
