BANGKOK TRAVEL TIPS

TRANSPORTATION – Like Paris or London for people moving, a map makes getting around quicker and easier.
Bangkok’s traffic is horrific. Be mindful when you cross streets, motorcycles appear unexpectedly, anywhere. Taxi’s are cheap and plentiful but Public Transportation saves time getting around the city. Take the BTS-Skytrain, MRT- Subway, River Boat, or maybe a Tuk-Tuk to the mega Shopping Malls, entertainment, and business sections of the city. Public Rail Transportation now includes the Suvarnabhumi Airport to the city: http://www.tatnews.org/tourism_news/5016.asp
PHONES – If communication is a priority for you, buy a telephone when you arrive. Much cheaper than roaming charges, phones in Thailand are different and operate on a dual band. Buy them at malls and vendors everywhere starting at about $20.00. Buy a local Sim card at one of the many 7-11‘s in Thailand and take it in for a re-fill. They do it for you, so it couldn’t be easier to save money.
DAYTIME ACTIVITIES –
Shopping, Shopping, Shopping!
Plan to be in town for at least one weekend, using Public Transportation to the Weekend, as well as Night Markets. Here’s your chance to use that map!

BEER TIP – Don’t Guess! Chang Beer is #1
FOOD TIP – STREET FOOD is fantastic – so cheap, you can buy a variety of dishes to try. Vendors use bottled water. Don’t be afraid to experiment!
Delicious food is everywhere in Bangkok. It’s fortunate for “Foodies” that Thai’s love to eat, eat all day, and Thai cooking classes are plentiful. The Park Plaza offers small classes at reasonable prices. The best part of all the fun, is sitting down to eat the dishes you’ve just created.
Fussy eaters? Relax. Bangkok’s got plenty of Seafood eateries, as well as all sorts of Ethnic and Western restaurants, including America’s favorites, like McDonalds, Kentucky Fried, and Dunkin Donuts.
NO SECURITY WORRIES – Bangkok has always been a very safe city, and these days, security is very evident, so it’s safer than ever. Enjoy!
